Stockton
This is the Stockton Yard. Trains arrive from Altamont on the lower left of the picture. Track on the right is the mainline leaving eastbound for Sacramento.

There are eight industries here and a forty car yard. Presently seven trains stop here to drop or pickup cars. Stockton moves more cars than any other yard on the railroad. All yard turnouts are hand thrown. Each yard has a phone connection to the dispatcher.

We use a combination of waybills and switch lists for car movement. The wood shelf is for holding the waybills.

The newest edition to the Stockton Yard is a battery operated switcher. This locomotive has an additional component called a calf, which contains the battery, radio receiver and DCC decoder requiring no track power.

See the throttle page for additional information on this latest throttle innovation.
